The Light Revolution Lighting Technique

One of the most important elements of any image creation is the lighting of the subject and since the beginnings of photography people have experimented with painting with light. Great effects can be achieved but it has been a very hit and miss process and not easily repeatable. Light Revolution has refined the technique and built a system that paints with light in a highly controllable and repeatable manner to create beautiful still life photographs

Montage Set Up.png

Example of Simple Workflow

The images are created in a darkened room/studio using a timed exposure. The subject is placed in the middle of the table and a camera positioned above, one or more lights are attached to the pylons on the ends of the rotating arms. The system is activated and the arms rotate at a pre-selected speed for example 8 seconds for one complete rotation. The camera's shutter is also set to 8 seconds so that when the camera is fired the lights will execute a complete rotation of the table before the exposure is completed which then generates an image of the subject lit from 360 degrees

Vast Range of Lighting Effects

The Light Revolution System can create a vast range of lighting styles from a very soft shadow less light which is perfect for pack shot photography through to intense focused beams of light to accentuate the texture of a subject. At extreme settings the subjects appear to glow due to the intensity of the light. The technique has been used successfully with many different subjects as you will see from examples in the galleries section of this website

Creates Different "Looks" Very Fast

It is very easy to create different lighting effects very quickly by making small adjustments to the lights without having to move the subject, this is ideal for shooting content for social media where both stills and video of the product can be shot using the same set up in multiple lighting styles
